Tutor Doctor Colchester North, Academic Coaching and Tutoring has joined forces this year with WRITE WAI PR & COPYWRITING SERVICES to come up with a really interesting project for you to spend some time on this summer.
We want you to write an article in a news style (not a feature style), just as if you were writing it for The Gazette, Colchester, about something newsworthy that has inspired or amazed you locally this summer. It doesn’t matter what the subject is but it must be about something local and your passion for it must shine through your writing. The article should be between 300 and 400 words long; it can contain quotations from relevant people, facts and figures and it can contain a photograph relevant to the subject matter. You must also include a short piece (200 words maximum) explaining how you identified the subject, how you researched the subject and drew your conclusions.
Your entry will be judged on 3 elements:
1. The article itself and the way it inspires the Judge.
2. How well you explain the way you did your research.
3. The quality and relevance of the additional material e.g. photo and quote.
Bafta award-winning journalist, Sally Anderson-Wai founder of WRITE WAI PR & COPYWRITING SERVICES will be judging the entries. Sally has over 20 years experience as a Journalist and has worked for newspapers, magazines and the BBC. She also runs Junior Journalists’ Clubs in Colchester schools.
Entries should be submitted by email to firstname.lastname@example.org. The closing date is midday Friday 19th September, 2014. There will be a first, second and third place winners and winners will be notified by 30th September, 2014.
